Road Safety Audits

As experienced Senior Road Safety Auditors (accredited with the Department of Transport) we undertake road safety audits for purposes of assessing road safety issues within existing and new road networks. In simple terms an RSA includes ‘a formal examination of a future road or traffic project or an existing road or road related area, in which an independent, qualified team reports on the project’s crash potential and actual safety performance respectively’.

We have the expertise to conduct road safety audits during all specific stages in the lifecycle of a road project when a road safety audit may be conducted, including as follows:

  • feasibility audit

  • preliminary design audit

  • detailed design audit

  • construction/ roadworks audit

  • pre-opening audit

  • post opening road audit.

Road authorities, designers, architects, planners and contractors rely on road safety audits to avoid unnecessary collisions, accidents and serious incidents that may cause injuries and costly litigation.

Our Road Safety Audits consider all network users including motorists, motorcyclists, public transport users, pedestrians, cyclists, heavy transport vehicle users and disabled users.

We also undertake compliance inspections on the design, assessment/checking, approval and sign-off of traffic management plans (TMP)/traffic control plans (TCPs) and their implementation on site during construction and roadworks. The objectives of these assessments and approvals involve mitigating the risks to road workers and any road users alike, considering the Austroads Guide and local jurisdictional protocols.
